I'm a 65 year old woman, and I've been redoing the ugly, old bathroom in my 70 year old house without breaking the bank. To keep the costs down, I installed the Looselay Vinyl Plank floor directly over an old ceramic tile floor all by myself. I'd never installed a floor before, but I took my time, worked with care and finished the job.I ordered two boxes of planks from amazon.com, which had the best price. To cut the planks I used a good quality utility knife and a pair of heavy duty kitchen shears. The hardest part was cutting around the toilet, but I made a template out of cardboard and used that as my guide. Although I had bought a roll of carpet tape, I didn't tape any of the planks down.I'm very pleased with the way the floor turned out. I used the Espresso Walnut color, which has a lovely dark brown color. I've included two photos from different stages of the redo. The first photo shows the floor just after I installed it. The second photo shows the floor after I covered the ugly, old, peach ceramic wall tiles with plastic Smart Tiles, bought an indoor/outdoor bath rug, and selected fabric for a new shower curtain which I still haven't sewn. The third photo, which doesn't include the floor, shows a further stage of the still incomplete redo. I include this photo to show you that even the ugliest, old bathroom can be improved on a modest budget. And a key part of the redo is definitely the Looselay Vinyl Plank flooring.Incidentally, the floor really is waterproof. If a plank gets wet underneath, you can easily remove it, dry it out, and reinstall it, which is exactly what I did the other day. So, it's perfect for a bathroom.
